New House – Who Dis?

New House - Who Dis?

New house, who dis? 9/3/2019

We closed on the house on a Friday and have been busy bees ever since at the house every second trying to clean it up and move stuff over. It’s a very busy month between closing on the new house and closing on the old house with little sis’ wedding sandwiched in between. Oh, and switching the kids schools and doctors and only month 2 of my new job and … you get the point.
Friday’s closing was something you cannot even make up. I feel like it would be the plot to an episode of Schitts Creek- haven’t watched this show? Do yourself a favor and check it out, it’s incredible.

Looking back on it now, I truly feel sorry for this woman. But at the time, I could not believe my eyes or my ears. To avoid any specific details in consideration of privacy, I will say that this woman is going through an obviously terrible divorce and upheaval of her life. I can’t even begin to imagine what she is going through, or the stress and mental state that she is in. Her and her agent showed up almost an hour late to the closing appointment to her stand-in attorney’s(and husbands signed by proxy) utter dismay. She was, in the most polite way to say it possible, loaded. To say she was disheveled was an understatement. Her hair was a mess, her boobs were barely contained by her too far down unbuttoned shirt, her sweater was covered in an unidentified food substance of stains- and she permeated booze from her pores. She was loud and accusatory, and just…. very very deeply sad. Our attorney had to dismiss them from the room so that we could hear ourselves think in order to get the papers signed. It was crazy.

To say the house was move in ready was … a stretch. I had no idea that we would be needing to paint the whole entire house before we moved in, but that’s definitely what it’s looking like. They “patched” every single wall in the house, loosely, or left open holes. There’s grease stains and hand prints and unidentified stains over the walls, carpets and ceilings. There is purple paint all over the carpet in Bunny’s room and green streaks in the closet – we even found a wad of chewing gum stuck to the vaulted ceilings in the main bedroom. Yikes.

We luckily don’t close on the “old” house until Sept 30th so we have the whole month to get the house move in ready. We moved my mom’s stuff in first out of the storage unit and she has been spending tons of time at the new place setting up and slowly moving things out of our garage over to the house in car loads. We were able to paint the main hallway upstairs and all of the bedrooms – either with touch up paint or full paint job, like the ceilings so that we could rip out all of the carpet to the staples/sub floor. It was disgusting. Hubs said he was gagging to the point of throw up ripping out the last of it where there was clearly old urine stains from animals and all kinds of unidentifiable substances. We cleaned out all the window wells and you better believe I saged the SHIT out of that house. LOL. It looks so nice.

We even painted the kids bathroom and the main office on the first floor which had floor to ceiling (no joke) paint that was so dark it was almost black. It looks so warm and light now but took so many layers of primer its not even funny. I hope this is our forever home – I already love it so much and decorating the play room and all of the details is SO fun. I feel so blessed to be able to have this space, and the backyard is to die for. Completely fenced in and safe for the kiddos and the dog is living his best life. At our old place he used to have to be contained to a 50 foot leash around an old basketball poll because, hes a runner, and we had no fence. And, we were always worried about the kids running into the street. The garage is huge and my mom has her own full apartment in the basement, complete with kitchen, full bath, and living space. There is even a bar that seats 8 people! Her area will be the next one we tackle because it is definitely a “man cave” down there and needs some lighting up/women’s touch to make it her own but its going to be great. I can feel it.

Welcome home! Our new beautiful house. We are so in love!
